Overall assessment

The Modernisation Fund in Slovakia has a roughly estimated allocation between EUR 2,6 - 3,9 billion for 2021-2030 depending on the EU Emissions Trading System prices. It will support investments for the:

• modernisation of energy systems, including energy storage and energy efficiency improvements (mostly district heating);
• support of electricity production from renewable energy sources and energy efficiency improvements in hydropower plants;
• improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions in industry;
• production of heat from renewable energy sources.

Energy communities are not mentioned in the Modernisation Fund.
