Congress on the cooperative energy transition in Berlin

On the 14th of February 2017 the German cooperative umbrella organisation - and REScoop.eu member- DGRV, organised its annual ‘congress on the cooperative energy transition’ in Berlin. In the morning a panel discussed the Clean Energy for Europe package issued by the European Commission late November 2016. Paula Abreu Marquez of DG Energy gave an overview of the whole package and what’s in it specific for ‘energy communities’ such as renewable energy cooperatives. The European Commission estimates that by 2030 20% of the renewable energy production in the EU could come from energy communities. Dirk Vansintjan (president of REScoop.eu/board member of Ecopower cvba-BE), Erik Christiansen (board member of Middelgrunden-DK) and Emma Bridge (Community Energy England-UK) engaged in an interesting discussion moderated by Andreas Wieg (DGRV-DE) on the possibilities these new directives could mean for the development and growth of energy cooperatives across Europe. A report of the whole day will soon be available on the website of DGRV, http://www.genossenschaften.de/bundesgesch-ftsstelle-energiegenossenscha....
